Definition of Terms
- ABE - Authorized Barangay Electrician of SOLECO who are authorized to install electrical connection within the coop’s coverage area. Please see complete list of ABE.
- AGMA - Annual General Membership Assembly.
- Ampere - a unit of electric current equal to a flow of one coulomb per second.
- Application Form - a form used in applying for new connection. You can get the form in our offices or you may
- Attendance Ticket - refers to the ticket to prove that you attended the Pre-Membership Orientation Seminar.
- Bill or Power Bill - refers to the Statement of Account of electric consumption of the consumer.
- Black-out - refers complete interruption of power in the whole coverage of SOLECO
- Blue Print - an electrical diagram form used for more than 10 outlets electrical connections. You can get the form in our offices.
- BOD - Board of Director.
- Brown-out - refers to a partial, temporary reduction in system voltage or total system capacity.
- Certificate of Solidary Liability - the certification required by SOLECO if the applicant is only renting the house applied for.
- Change of Name - refers to request to change the account’s name to the new owner.
- Commercial Consumer - refers to any of account used solely for business.
- Complaint - refers to a grievance of a consumer to the service of the coop. Example: Low Voltage, No Power, Fluctuating Voltage, Leaning Pole, Rotten Pole, and Busted Transformer.
- Conductor - a substance that allows electrical flow.
- Coop - refers also to SOLECO
- CWA - Customer Welfare Assistant. A SOLECO employee who usually handles consumer’s requests and complaints and other general inquiry.
- Death Certification - this is secured if the applicant’s wants to change the name of the account of a deceased person.
- Disconnection - the cutting of electric connection of a house or establishment. It can be requested by the owner (voluntary disconnection) or by order of SOLECO such as disconnection due to non-payment or disconnection due to pilferage.
- Distribution Transformer - refers to transformers used within SOLECO coverage area.
- District Election - refers to the election of board of directors of SOLECO per district under the guidelines set the National Electrification Administration.
- Fluctuating Power - continuous change in the voltage when a devices or appliances that require higher load are extensively used.
- Flying Connection - any connection or tapping of electricity from a legitimate connection without any consent or authority from SOLECO.
- High Voltage - a voltage that is 10% higher than the nominal voltage which is 230 volts. 254 volts or higher is considered high voltage.
- Industrial Consumer - refers to any account used solely for business which is using 3 phase primary line and at least using 75 kva transformer each line.
- Insulator - a substance that will not allow electrical flow.
- Kilowatt - 1000 watts
- Kilowatt-hour - is the unit used in computing electric consumption.
- KVa Rating - Kilovolt Ampere Rating. A unit used in rating the capacity of a transformer.
- KWh Meter - Kilowatt-hour Meter. The electric meter that measures the amount of electrical energy in kWh that was consumed in the house or establishment.
- Low Power - see the meaning of Low Voltage.
- Low Voltage - a voltage 10% lower than the nominal voltage which is 230 volts. 207 volts or lower is considered low voltage.
- MCO - Member-consumer-owner. It signifies the tripartite role of electric consumers in the operation of SOLECO.
- Member Applicant - a person who is requesting for additional connection/s.
- Meter - see also kWh Meter.
- Net Metering - is a billing mechanism that credits solar energy system owners for the electricity they add to the grid.
- New Applicant - a person who is requesting for electrical connection.
- Ohm - the unit used to measure electrical resistance a material or an electrical devise.

- Pilferage - refers to theft of electricity under RA 7832 or also known as “Anti-electricity and Electric Transmission Lines/Materials Pilferage Act of 1994”
- PMOS - Pre Membership Orientation Seminar. A seminar that an applicant will undergo to know about his/her rights and responsibilities as an electric consumer at the same time as member and part owner of the cooperative. The seminar is good for 3 hours. See the Schedule:
- Power Interruption - refers to loss of electrical supply to the end user. This could be schedule or unscheduled power interruptions.
- Primary Line - refers to SOLECO electric distribution system line operating at 13.2k volts for three-phase line or 7.6k volts for single phase.
- Public Building - refers to any account used solely by government agencies or local government units.
- Reconnection - The request asks by an electric consumer who wants his/her house reconnected after being disconnected for a reason.
- Request - refers to a demand ask by a consumer to the coop. Example: Request for New Connection or Second Connection, Change of Meter Request, Change of Name, Transfer or relocation of meter and Request for Disconnection.
- Residential Consumer - refers to any account used solely for dwelling or housing.
- Schedule of Load - an estimate of instantaneous electrical loads operating in a house or facility.
- Scheduled Power Interruption - an interruption that is intentional in order to repair or maintain the power line.
- Secondary Line - refers to SOLECO’s electric distribution system line operating at 240 – 220 volts.
- Service Drop Wire - the two wires used to connect your house from SOLECO electric pole. Usually has the color of black and silver wires. Black is the positive while the silver is the negative.
- Sketch Plan - an electrical diagram form used for 10 or less outlet electrical connections. You can get the form in our offices.
- SOLECO - Southern Leyte Electric Cooperative. Your NON-PROFIT, NON-STOCK electric distribution utility at your service.
- Surcharge - refers to charges to an account due to late payment.
- Temporary Lighting - refers to a kind of electrical connection in which is used while a building is under construction.
- Traverse Certification - this is secured if the applicant’s service drop wire will traverse a lot or building owned by another person.
- Unscheduled Power Interruption - an interruption that is unintentional due to weather disturbances or man-made catastrophe like fire, storm, earthquake, etc.
- Volt - is the derived unit for electric potential, electric potential difference (voltage), and electromotive force
- Waiver Certificate - documents needed for updating the account/membership and for utilization of kWh meter. <em>Example: Waiver used if the previous owner is available, Waiver used if previous owner is deceased and heirs cannot be located, Waiver if previous owner is deceased and heirs are available, Waiver if previous owner cannot be located.</em
- Watt - is the unit of power (symbol: W)
